Honors in Creative Writing

Literary Arts concentrators who wish to complete their concentration with Honors in Creative Writing must include two 1000-level workshops or independent studies among their courses and must, in addition, complete a thesis. The thesis is a substantial body of work that reflects the student’s achievement during his/her years in the Program: a collection of stories or poems, a novel, a play or screenplay, or an extended electronic/mixed media project. Students may complete a thesis by taking LITR 1510 (an independent study). In terms of meeting the concentration requirements, LITR 1510 counts toward the four workshops needed, as well as the six courses through LITR and four 1000-level course requirements.

Honors in Literary Arts Production

Those who wish to pursue Honors in Literary Arts Production must include two 1000-level workshops, production courses or related independent studies among their courses; and complete a production capstone project.

Honors in Cross-Disciplinary Writing

Students wishing to complete Honors in Cross-Disciplinary writing must take either two special topics workshops, one special topics plus one genre workshop, or one workshop in each of two different genres. Students may complete the capstone project by taking LITR 1510.
