Karan Mahajan conjures a compelling portrait of Mayank Austen Soofi and his vision of Delhi in a volitle age in the 11 August online edition of the New Yorker. Earlier this year, his article, "State Capture: How the Gupta Brothers Hijacked South Africa Using Bribes Instead of Bullets" appeared in Vanity Fair; this piece chronicles how three brothers from India apparently "captured" the government of Africa's second-largest economy; not only were they hiring and firing ministers, but they had the President in their pocket. Karan Mahajan is Assistant Professor of Literary Arts at Brown.
