Further prizes and honors have included the Pushcart Prize for the Short Story; the National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship; the Bunting Fellowship of Radcliffe College at Harvard University;  O. Henry Award for the Short Story; 100 Distinguished Stories, Best American Short Stories; the Thomas J. Watson Institute Travel Grant  for research in France and Greece; among others. 

She retired from teaching at the end of the 2017-2018 Academic Year.
