Biography

Maria Maggenti is a filmmaker, screenwriter and tv writer. Her career as writer/director was launched at Sundance with the iconic indie movie “The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love” released by Fine Line Features. Her follow-up feature “Puccini for Beginners” distributed by Strand Releasing was another Sundance hit.  Her feature writing credits include “The Love Letter” for Dreamworks, “Monte Carlo” for Fox 2000 and “Before I Fall” directed by Ry Russo Young. She has been a writer/producer on “Without A Trace” for CBS, MTV’s “Finding Carter”, Lifetime’s “UnReal” and the CW’s “Supergirl”.  She was Executive Producer on “Motherland: Ft. Salem” for Freeform and a Co-Ep on "Sex/Life" for Netflix.  Maggenti received her MFA in filmmaking from the NYU Graduate Film Institute Tisch School of the Arts and her undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Latin and Greek from Smith College.
