Percival Everett's novel James Awarded the National Book Award

James, a novel by Brown alumnus Percival Everett (AM, 1982), was selected as winner of the National Book Award for 2024. The novel was also on the six-author shortlist for the 2024 Booker Prize. Everett's novel opens up Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by shifting the focus of the narrative to Finn's travel companion, James.
