Victor LaValle is the author of seven works of fiction and one comic book. His most recent novel, The Changeling, won a World Fantasy Award and was named a Best Book of the Year by Time Magazine. His comic book, Destroyer, a continuation of Mary's Shelley's Frankenstein set in the Black Lives Matter era, won a Bram Stoker Award for Best Graphic Novel. He has been the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Whiting Writers Award, and the Key to Southeast Queens. He teaches writing at Columbia University.
