Tony Tost

Tony Tost is the author of Complex Sleep, published by University of Iowa Press in 2007 in their Kuhl House Poets series, and Invisible Bride, published by LSU Press in 2004 and winner of the 2003 Walt Whitman Award. A book of prose on Johnny Cash's first American Recordings album with Rick Rubin is forthcoming from Continuum Books in their 33 1/3 series on classic record albums. After co-founding and co-editing the online journal Octopus Magazine with Zachary Schomburg and founding and editing another online journal, Fascicle, Tost now focuses his editorial energies on an occasional podcast called Tony Tost's America, featuring sublime and/or absurd emanations of utter Americana. His poems and prose appear in HamboneTalismanMandorlaNo: a journal of the artsFenceDenver QuarterlyTypoAmerican LiteratureJacketVerseOpen Letter and elsewhere. Tost lives with his expanding family in Durham, North Carolina where he is a Ph.D. candidate in English at Duke University completing a dissertation on the interrelation of myth, technology and new media in the poetics of Ezra Pound, Charles Olson, Stan Brakhage, and Gertrude Stein.
