Writers Online

Tom Raworth has published more than 40 volumes of poetry, prose, and translations, including, most recently, his Collected Poems, Ace, Landscaping the Future and Tottering State. His poetry has been referred to as fragmentary, provocative, and sometimes puzzling; according to critic Robert Sheppard, writing in the Times Literary Supplement, Raworth’s work “explores reality in language, rather than through it.” Born in Kent, England, Raworth was the founding editor of Goliard Press. He has taught writing at the University of Essex in Colchester, UK; at Bowling Green State University; at Northeastern Illinois University; and at King’s College, Cambridge, where he was poet-in-residence in 1977 – 78.
