Salvador Plascencia is the author of The People of Paper, which was described by Publisher’s Weekly as a “virtuosic first novel [that] is explosively unreal, but bares human truths with devastating accuracy.” He was the recipient of a National Foundation for Advancement of Arts Award in Fiction in 1996 and the Peter Nagoe Prize for Fiction in 2000. In 2001 he was awarded the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans, becoming the first Soros fellow in fiction.
