Rikki Ducornet

RikkiRikki Ducornet is the author of more than twenty books, including novels, collections of short fiction, poetry, essays, and books for children.  Her most recent publications are the novels, Gazelle (Knopf, 2003) and The Fan Maker’s Inquisition (Henry Holt, 1999), and The Word “Desire, a collection of short fiction (Henry Holt, 1997).   She has been the recipient of a Lannan Literary Fellowship for Fiction, an L.A. Times Book of the Year Award, and fellowships from the Mary Ingram Bunting Institute and the Ingram Merrill Foundation, among others.  She has taught at the University of Denver, where she was Writer in Residence from 1988 – 2000; at Brown University and Naropa University; at Bard College; and at the Vermont Studio Center.  In addition to being well known for her writing, Rikki Ducornet is also a respected visual artist and illustrator whose paintings, prints, and drawings have been exhibited in the U.S. and abroad.  She has illustrated books by Jorge Luis Borges, Robert Coover, Forrest Gander, Kate Bernheimer, Joanna Howard and Anne Waldman among others.
