Lisa Samuels is a poet whose most recent book, The Invention of Culture, was published by Shearsman Books. Her other books are Paradise for Everyone (2005) and The Seven Voices (1998). In addition, she is the author of several chapbooks, including War Holdings (2003), and of two scholarly works, Tomorrowland (a book on poetic epic) and Modernism Is Not Enough, critical essays. Currently a visiting scholar in the Literary Arts Program at Brown, Ms. Samuels teaches literature and creative writing at the University of Auckland.
