Biography

Matt Carlson is an audio engineer and interdisciplinary collaborator with a diverse career of helping others bring their artistic visions to life. As a graduate of Full Sail University and Berklee College of Music, Matt has built a broad foundation in audio engineering. He served as Lead Engineer at Converse Rubber Tracks in Boston, a no-cost recording studio that provided emerging artists with access to professional-level resources and studio time. At the Perkins School for the Blind, Matt served as Tech Director, where he developed Radio Perkins, an accessible internet radio station and recording program designed to teach visually impaired students transferable skills in audio production and technology.

Matt has contributed to the Research and Sound Design teams at iZotope and Native Instruments, where he was awarded a Technical Emmy and Academy Award for the development of the iZotope RX audio repair tool. His specialization in machine learning and audio data curation for source separation and generative audio algorithms has also positioned him as a leading consultant and advocate in the ethical and legal use of data in AI development.

He also serves as Front of House Audio Engineer for Blue Man Group Boston, supporting dynamic theatrical productions, including sensory-friendly performances designed for children with autism. His career continues today with over twenty years of freelance engineering and producing everything from music and movies to audiobooks, podcasts, and slam poetry.
