The Metropolitan Museum of Art opens Flight Into Egypt an exhibition exploring how Black Artists have engaged with ancient Egypt over the past century and a half. Among the many visual artists and writers featured in the show is poet Matthew Shenoda, professor and chair of the Literary Arts department at Brown University. The exhibit opens on 17 November 2024 and runs through 17 February 2025. Those included in the show include George Washington Carver, Madeline Hunt-Ehrlich, Glenn Ligon and Kara Walker. In a first for the museum, performance will be an integral part of the exhibit.
