During the pre-registration process (that occurs midway through the semester prior to the term in which the course takes place), up to eight Literary Arts concentrators (who meet any one of the posted prerequisites) may register for LITR 1010 sections.
For other 1000-level Literary Arts workshops (LITR 1110/1/2 & LITR 1150/1/2/3), most will have open registration for all enrolled students – but check a given section to see if there is a pre-requisite requirement. In most cases, literature courses (LITR 1200 and 1230/1/2) are open to any student who wishes to enroll
In the days leading up to the first day of the semester, each instructor will set up guidelines for filling any open slots – requests/submissions are due on the first day of the semester by 2 pm. At this stage, all students will be given consideration to all 1000-level courses. Students from outside the Literary Arts concentration may seek entry into the LITR 1010 sections at this stage.
When to Seek Entry into a Class
Check to see if you are eligible to register for classes in which you have an interest during the pre-registration period. Those who register at that time will have secured a place in the class.
If you did not register for the class during the pre-registration period, then follow the guidelines posted by the instructor for a given section.
Please follow the guidelines for a specific section by 2 pm ET on Wednesday, 21 January 2026 (some instructors may accept queries through 5 pm ET on 21, 22 or 23 January; in those cases, the links will remain active until that time). Instructors will notify those who've applied of the results no later than by day's end on Monday, 26 January.
Unless otherwise noted, classes will meet starting on 21 January – you must attend the first class in order to hold your place in the class.
